[dropcap]A[/dropcap]pril, come she will. Paul Simon sung those words and once again here she is, with her warmer weather, warmer water and smaller swells (mostly). Yes, the fourth month of the year marks a transition away from bigger winter swells from the north to smaller swells from the northeast and east. Expect a good day to average from 2-5 feet wave height this month and yes, the occasional day with overhead surf. As of press time in mid-March, water temps were climbing with air temps reaching into the mid-to-high 80s on consecutive days. Leave the wetsuit hanging up at home. And leave those lobsters in their holes – season is closed. Bahamas Out Island Adventures is taking signups for its eleventh annual youth surf camp, beginning June 27. For those endurance athletes out there, check active.com for registration for Gregory Town, Eleuthera’s Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon and 5K fun run. Think Simple, Pineapple Fields Resort, Sands Beer, Island Made Gift Shop and Rainbow Inn return as the annual race’s main sponsors. Come for the race, stay for the pineapples!
