September will bring great permit action for the angler looking for something a little different. The fish at this time of the year will typically be in the 30-pound range with some even larger. Cooling waters will bring more bones onto the flats during the day for longer periods of time. There will still be some hanging in the channels and areas of âmoving waterâ. You will find more âsinglesâ and âdoublesâ cruising out onto the flats and more âtailingâ and âmuddingâ. Besides bones and permit, donât forget about tarpon, âcuda and jack that can all bend a rod.
