[dropcap]M[/dropcap]arch is here and the fishing is just getting better. So much to fish for here in Grand Bahama and in the east fishing is great. The flats are full of sea life—barracuda, rays, jacks, bonefish and more. They will move off the flats into deeper water when a cold front comes but when the front passes, you can see the fish moving back on the flats.

Fishing the channels and reefs is pretty good right now. We have been fishing the channels using jigs and top water lures and catch so many types of fish, including mutton, mangrove snapper, yellow tail snapper, and jacks,  just to name a few. Those who only come to the Bahamas to fish for bonefish and permit, don’t know what they are missing!

For those who would like to do some channel fishing, if using a spin rod, rig it with 20-pound test line, and if you’re using jigs, try a 3/8 ounce or maybe a little heavier. For top water, our 4-inch to 8-inch surface lure would be good. If using a fly rod, I recommend 15- to 20-pound test leader with some big popper flies.

Come on let’s do this, book now at fireflybonefishingbahamas.com.
