[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he water off Grand Bahama is warming up quickly, which will bring the small black fin and skipjack tunas headed north. The blue marlins will be following their favorite food, which is the blackfin and skipjack tunas. Mahi will be migrating through with the summer squalls and weed lines and occasional large wahoos will be spawning in the warm waters.

The lure color I have been having great success for yellowfin and blackfin tunas is the yellow, pink, and green which I call the bleeding dolphin. On a recent Bahama trip aboard Duchess, we went one for three on blue marlins on my purple and black short slant head. This time of year, I troll lures a little faster in the calmer waters to create more commotion in the spread. Another reason I troll faster is we cover more territory to increase our percentage of strikes.

Hope to see you on the rip. Our last Grand Bahama was so successful, I can’t wait to go back!
