[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he cool weather pushing south is always an indicator that the southern migration of all pelagic species has begun. I am preparing my lures for large wahoos, dolphins, and occasional black fin and yellowfin tunas. I will be using 50 wide two speed reels, 32-ounce trolling leads 20 feet forward of the lure. My spread will consist of black and purple, and black and red lures on the flat lines. Short riggers will have green, yellow and pink, and blue and pink lures. Long riggers will have blue and white, and solid pink lures.

The flat lines will have wahoo belly strips 10 inches long cut in a tear drop with double hooks behind the lure. I plan on zig-zagging on the drop-off from 150 to 600 feet at speed of 9 to 12 knots depending on wind and sea chop. Always remember to not slow down your speed on the first bite. By not slowing the speed, you will improve your chances of multiple hook ups.

Get all your sushi fixing ready. Wahoo is my favorite!
