[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ightbourne Marine had a very exciting tournament this year! Anglers lucked out with incredibly fair weather, allowing them to fish new areas. Boats went as far as Abaco, Eleuthera, Exuma, South Andros, and the Berry Islands. And as irony would have it, several of the key fish were caught just five miles off of New Providence.

“Anglers all had a great day, and that’s the most important thing, especially with boats traveling from the Family Islands to participate”, said tournament organizer Rachel Lightbourne–Graham.

The boardwalk to the weigh-in station at Green Parrot was lined with anglers talking with swagger while nervously anticipating each other’s catch. Team “Way Up” on board a 26’ Edgewater powered by twin Mercury Verados weighed in at a tie with “Stop the Press” fishing from a 54’ Hatteras. The defining factor was who weighed in first. Team “Way Up” is the official champion of Lightbourne Marine’s 9th Annual Wahoo Challenge. Team “Stop the Press” is the runner up, and was also awarded the heaviest single wahoo at 52.8-pounds, landed by Barry Pike. Joe Tortorella received the kingfish award for his 18.9-pound fish caught on “April Fool”.

Tournament organizers look forward to fishing with everyone next year at the 10th annual Wahoo Challenge and extended a special thanks to Sands Beer, Green Parrot, Bahamas Wholesale Agencies, Bay Street Marina, and Contrax, Ltd.
