[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ere’s January’s top fish to target: wahoo, yellow fin tuna and mahi-mahi. The yellow fin tuna bite was pretty good during December and should also be good in January. Although the wahoo bite around Eleuthera has been good, with the water cooling down, January should bring hotter wahoo action. There have been a few mahi-mahi caught, but the closer we get towards March, the bite will pick up. All these species can be caught trolling using skirts with ballyhoo or artificial lures, but the best bait for all three is live bait. Best locations to fish for these three are different points of the bar, such as Shallow Ground, Pinnacle, and James Point. Fishing in general should be great all around Eleuthera in January.
