May is here and I am looking for the fishing to improve. April was a harder month then I thought because of the southeast, southwest and westerly winds. Water temperature is still running 72 to 73 degrees (a little too warm for dolphin). Bait has been slim but is starting to show up. Enough of the bad news. Blackfin and yellowfin tuna as well as dolphin are showing up and all in good numbers and sizes. Looks like it is going to be a real Bahamas’ fishing season. Dolphin, marlin, and tuna will be here from late April to the end of August. For the last two years the fish showed up in November and left the last week of May and no later than the first week of June. Because of the cool water temperature, we are still catching wahoo in the 20 to 50 pound range with a monster over 80 pounds coming now and then. Tackle rules are still the same. Fast to the rod, don’t give the fish and inch, and faster to the boat means you might get to keep it because sharks are in the area for a free easy meal. Results from the Davis Harbor Dudley Robert’s Invitational will be posted on the Brag Board or in June’s fishing report.

Tight line to all and remember safety first.
