Late summer and it is hot. You will have to cover some water with lures if you want to find fish during the month of September. There is minimal bait around South Eleuthera at this time of year but you can still find the small schools of skip jack and blackfin tuna. Troll around the schools and you will get a mixed bag and maybe a stray marlin. Of course at this time of the year, we are all waiting for the cooler water to come and bring the wahoo season. We are looking forward to the next “bait hatch” to get the fish feeding again. During these times in the Bahamas you have to change up your fishing. Deep dropping is still producing but change up your spots so they don’t get fished out.

If you really want to have fun, try a Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow any color and troll over sand in 20 to 30 feet of water and see what happens. I got three 8 to 10 pound mutton snapper! Who knew? Yes, September is a slow time in the southern Bahamas but make plans now because soon the fishing will be back on the fast track.

Tight Lines and reel music to all.
