More than $18,000 in cash and prizes will be paid out at the 2016 Central Florida Shootout May 13-15. This annual event, with open waters from St. Augustine to the Lake Worth Inlet, offers payouts for 10 different inshore and offshore species a general entry category as well as categories for juniors and lady anglers. There are trophies and prizes for first through third place.

The weekend of fun begins with a Captains’ Party Kickoff on Friday evening May 13 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Melbourne Auditorium. On Saturday, May 14, Weigh-ins will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at two locations, Sunrise Marina in Port Canaveral and Capt. Hiram’s in Sebastian. Inshore anglers must be in line to weigh in by 4 p.m. Offshore anglers must be in line to weigh in by 5 p.m.

The event will conclude with a grand prize giveaway on Sunday afternoon, May 15 at Grills Riverside. A drawing will be held for a brand new NauticStar 214XTS bay boat with a Yamaha 115HP four stroke motor, Aluminum AmeraTrail trailer, and powder coated t-top from BT’s Welding. For every $50 tournament entry ticket purchased, the angler receives an entry in the grand prize drawing. The grand prize package is valued at more than $45,000.

The following are species and payouts:

• Kingfish: first place $1,000

• Dolphin: first place $1,500

• Wahoo: first place $1,000

• Gag grouper: first place $1,000

• Amberjack: first place $1,000

• Cobia: first place $1,000

• Tripletail: first place $500

• Trout: first place $1,000

• Redfish: first place $1,500

• Snook: first place $1,000

• Most Spots (redfish): $250

New in 2016 is a $1,000 Central Florida Shootout Bonus. For every legal species weighed in on Saturday, anglers will be given a raffle ticket. A drawing for the bonus will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grills Riverside. Anglers must be present to win the $1,000 bonus.
