- Drag chains are a great way to maximize your fishing while floating a river. One drawback, though, is the noise a chain makes dragging along the bottom.
If you are fearful of a rattling chain drag anchor scaring fish, there is an easy way to muffle it. - Buy a long tube sock and slip it over the chain, then tie the open end of the sock to the top anchor chain link. If a tube sock is not long enough, you can cut the end off of the sock and stitch it to a second sock for additional length or sew a length of felt or heavy flannel to make a sleeve to fit over the chain.
- Buy camo cloth from any sewing or fabric store for this to keep the sleeve from standing out like a fly on a wedding cake.
- To camouflage a modified tube sock, use thick waterproof felt tip markers of several dark colors to disguise it.
