We are watching the water temperature rise, which will change what species we catch due to their migration pattern. On my last trip, the water was 81.9°F, which changed my strategy for catching fish. I slowed my trolling speed to 7.5 knots, fished a combination of lures and ballyhoo. We caught many blackfin tuna, occasional yellowfin tuna, and could not get two sluggish blue marlin to bite.  When the conditions are like this, you can always break out your eight-to-ten-ounce deep jigs.  I personally like to tip the jigs with tuna belly strip bait for large grouper and snappers.

Be safe this summer.  Watch out for those late afternoon thunderstorms.

Catch ‘em up!
