The Mitzi Skiff line of boats started years ago when Tom Mitzlaff couldn’t find the particular boat he wanted. The idea was simple. It needed to have a clean layout for fly-fishing, a shallow draft, and remain quiet yet still be inexpensive to own and operate. So Tom, being the resourceful person he is, ended up designing his own line of skiffs, and the Mitzi Skiff was born. As the Mitzi Skiff boat company moves into a new era, we are guided by those very same principles. We build all composite, wide shallow water skiffs from 15 to 17 feet for the shallow water enthusiasts are affordable. We continue to improve and innovate while still Keeping It Simple!
Mitzi Skiffs are hand made in North Carolina with the latest in vacuum infusion fiberglass technology and now they are customizing them with features like all dry storage or more live wells; whatever fits your fancy. And finally we added the console rod rack, and for comfort the 3 piece cushion set.
When you talk about Mitzi skiffs the thought that comes to mind is the room on the bow it has more room than other boats similar in size. It’s a great place to put a beginner fly fisherman or a couple with light tackle. Underneath the bow, you have the Carolina Flare which cuts through chop, and when the chop gets big the flare actually directs the water down which helps to keep you dry and comfortable.
For those of you that use a push pole to navigate the shallow waters and grass flats, the Mitzi is one of the easiest to pole it tracks amazingly straight. The poling platform is made of aluminum tubes specifically made for Mitzi and it places you 34 inches above the deck giving you optimal viewing for sight fishing with friends or clients. Mitzi is a skiff you can pole all day long and not feel like you have worked.
Mitzi Skiffs comes in 15’, 16’, 17’ and 17’ tournament versions. These can be outfitted to meet any need that you have from tiller motors in the 15 versions to the fully loaded 17 Tournament Editions.
