[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he recent Jack Attack Fishing Tournament lured Treasure Coast anglers out for a week of fun-fishing for jacks and a chance to win some cash and prizes.

Organized by Capt. Chris Sharp of Beachwalker Guide Service, the week-long, from the land fishing tournament kicked off on November 28 with a captain’s meeting held at Hurricane Grill & Wings in Jensen Beach. Guest speakers for the kickoff included Capt. John Young of Bites On Guide Service, female angler Darcie “Darcizzle Offshore” Arahill, who also writes for Coastal Angler Magazine’s Palm Beach County edition, and Tim Kenney, the owner of Tackle For Less.

Despite cold and windy conditions the entire week of the tournament, over 100 fish were caught and released. Harrison Keller won the tournament with a 29.5-inch jack, taking home a GoPro Hero camera and a pair of Salt Life sunglasses.

The entry fee was $20 per angler. This is the second from-the-land, low-entry-fee tournament Sharp organized this year. The first one focused on snook.

“Most important,” remarked Sharp, “Was everyone had a good time and we raised money for Hibiscus Children’s Shelter, which helps children and families in need here in Jensen Beach.”
