[dropcap]W[/dropcap]eather for the November Treasure Coast Casters (TCC) Tournament was picture perfect, and the bite okay, but definitely not on fire. A total of 20 anglers brought 15 fish— two catfish, two stingrays, one jack and one snapper, and the rest puffers—to the table. TCC organizers Cammie Ward and Capt. Joe Ward remarked that they haven’t had this many puffers in a long time, “But the most important thing is the kids had fun and all the fish were released.”

The biggest fish of the tournament, a 2.10-pound stingray, was brought in by Nicholas Rosario.  Jordyn Beeten also caught a stingray and she missed having the biggest fish by two ounces. Nicholas received a trophy and a gift card to the Fishing Center, donated by TCC supports and volunteers Pat and Gwen.

A second tournament award was given and it was for a catch that was not a fish. A large crab and a starfish were also hooked by two junior anglers during the tournament. Those anglers names were put in a bucket and Kaleb Kneip, the TCC who nabbed the crab, won the award. The category for this award will change each tournament.

The extra medals that were awarded were donated by Jim Oppenborn, who heads up St. Lucie County’s Inshore Reef Restoration Program. Many thanks to Jim for his donation!

Last, three new Casters were welcomed to the group:  Orion Hall, Amelia Posyton and Mia Posyton.
