[dropcap]D[/dropcap]ecember brings cold fronts and wind but a lot of sunny days. Jacks are everywhere and can be caught in river or beach fishing. These hard pulling fish put up a battle to the end. If you want to catch a big one, fish the beaches or inlets where the big guys pick off baits along the way. A good choice are lures poppers—they love sound and something looking like it is getting away. Look for pompano guys after a nice cold front; they will be on the beaches. I like to catch them near a beach that has structure, such as Walton Rocks, Bath Tub Beach, House of Refuge and always Hobe Sound Beach. Best baits are sand fleas, cut clams, and shrimp. You might have to put some weight on the bottom to keep them in the strike zone. Best bridge is the last bridge on the Jensen Beach Causeway near the beach. Jig up and down with pompano jigs, You like doormats? Flounder will be around with the colder weather. Grab a live finger mullet, put it on the bottom at the Jensen Beach Pier or Fort Pierce jetty and you should hook up. Spanish macks will be at Peck Lake from December until March. These fish will eat anything that flashes. Make sure to use light wire leader or you will be losing tackle to these toothy fish.

Wishing you and your’s a great Christmas and Tight Lines!
