The Big-O is in its fall pattern right now, but winter is right around the corner. Water temperatures have been in the high 70s and low 80s which are great temperatures for catching just about everything on this lake. Bass fishing has been very good with live shiners, but very tough with artificials.Capt. Eddie PerryDec 30th, 2015
January is here and the bass on Okeechobee are really starting to turn on now that the water temperature is finally dropping a little. We are catching really good numbers from twenty to forty bass a day with a few really good ones mixed in from day to day. Capt. Mark KingDec 30th, 2015
Pompano, bluefish, jacks and Spanish mackerel become more of the focus in January. I like to target areas near the inlets like the mouth of the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter and Sailfish Flats in Stuart. Brian NelliDec 30th, 2015
Well fellow anglers for me it’s time for long johns and jig heads, must be winter time. No the long johns are not some hot new secret lure. Their main function is to keep this Florida boy warm. To me there’s nothing I hate more than being cold while I am out fishing. Jig heads come into play for me during the colder winter months when shrimp become the bait of choice. Capt. Howdy boys and girls of the wonderful fishin’ world. Here we are in a brand new year with so many fish to look forward to. I can’t help but say see-ya, good bye, farewell, glad you’re outta here 2015! 2015 was a strange year, we started out thinking the Redfish had left Charlotte Harbor and then in August we had more Reds than any year I can remember.Fishin' FranksDec 30th, 2015
Bass fishing over the last few weeks of November and into the early days of December has not been without its challenges. For those of you who have been on the water, you’re all too aware of the windy conditions since mid-November. Don NortonDec 30th, 2015
This weekend should be a great weekend for fishing. With the weatherman predicting a long steady period of warm temperatures, the fish should have adjusted from last weekend’s cold snap and getting back into their pre-spawn and spawning cycles. Speck fishing has improved both in fishing duration and quality of fish taken.Okeechobee EditionDec 24th, 2015
Last week’s cool front produced good results in local Speck, bass and catfishing. This weekend’s cold front should lower water temperatures even further and entice Lake Okeechobee bass onto the beds. Okeechobee EditionDec 17th, 2015
Finally some cool weather has set upon us with most of the area seeing upper-50’s to low 60’s at night. According to all pundits, this is exactly what we have been waiting for to turn-on the fishing. The north and west sides of Lake Okeechobee have been on fire for shiner fishermen these last few weeks so expect conditions to improve on the rest of the lake. Okeechobee EditionDec 10th, 2015
Another weekend and yet another weather front is to play a dominate roll in this weekend’s fishing. When venturing out this weekend you’ll need to have a Plan A, B, and C prepared for the changing conditions. High winds and some rainy periods may cause you to shift gears a few times this weekend.
