Welcome To

Coastal Angler Magazine

COSTA RICA

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the second issue of Costa Rica’s only magazine dedicated exclusively to the country’s Fishing and Watersports Tourism Industry. Coastal Angler Magazine Costa Rica is focused exclusively on sportfishing and watersports of Costa Rica. This February and March issue is filled with great information about fishing in Costa Rica. The magazine’s format consists of a United States National section on the outside pages, with a robust thirty-six-page Costa Rica section in the center. Every two months look for our new issue as we bring the world class Costa Rican fisheries to the forefront of tourism.

I truly believe our magazine has developed into the premiere vehicle for information and promotion of the Sport Fishing Tourism Industry of Costa Rica. We have lined up some excellent writers for this issue. You won’t want to miss Todd Staley’s article about green stick fishing and how it can help the Costa Rican fisheries. I would also like to welcome Captain German Bustos to our list of fishing report writers. I think you will find his report full of useful information about catching in the Golfito Osa Peninsula region.

The Costa Rica section is divided into seven regions, representing the seven major areas where fishing tourism exists in Costa Rica. If you’re looking for some fishing while you’re in Costa Rica the Regional Directories are filled with the best of the best charter operations for each area. The contact information will put you directly with the operators rather than a tour desk operator who’s booking for a commission. The seven areas include: The Papagayo Peninsula, The Tamarindo/Flamingo area, The Nicoya Gulf and Peninsula area, the Los Suenos/Herradura area, the Quepos area, the Golfito and Osa Peninsula area, and the Caribbean area. The magazine also includes tournament calendars, tournament news and fishing club news, along with tide charts, bait and tackle shops, marine service providers, resort destinations, and much more. Don’t miss tournament results and pictures from the Pelagic Rockstar Tournament held At Marina Pez Vela in Quepos this past January. Look for more tournament results from the season in the next issue.

Get involved with our brag board where you have the opportunity to show off your catch in print, with all the bragging rights that come with it. Send your photos to mike@coastalanglermagazine.com to get your catch in future issues. You can also see the digital side of the magazine at www.coastalanglermag.com/costa-rica. I hope you enjoy reading.
