While fishing a bridge for bull reds at night in Pensacola Bay, a surprise lightning storm caught a friend and I on the water. We took shelter under the bridge. The storm winds whipped the seas up to a nasty three feet. We held tightly to the pilings as the conditions deteriorated. I was never so glad we’d prepared for the worst. Here are five tips that helped us ride out the storm.Treasure CoastNov 30th, 2016
A father and his son were fishing from the end of one of the docks at the boat ramp, the wind was rustling through the palm trees and those Publix subs were delicious. Just as we were about to load up in the truck and make the ride up to the inlet, the young boy fishing from the boat ramp dock set the hook on a fish. His rod was bent over so far that at first we were all making our guesses, “stingray, trophy catfish, nurse shark.”Treasure CoastNov 30th, 2016
`Tis the season to fish, as December will roll out stockings stuffed with salty presents in the form of the many offshore species of fish that inhabit the coastal waters of Martin County. Capt. Rocky CarbiaNov 30th, 2016
December is here and it's not just the holidays that we have to look forward to. With every cold front this month, a new body of fish should push down the beach in search of warmer water and a constant food source. Sailfish, dolphin, blackfin tuna and everything else will migrate south along our reef systems and current edges.Capt. Scott FawcettNov 30th, 2016
The pompano have started showing up along the beaches for surf-casting using 9-to-12-foot rods. For bait, we use sand fleas, clams meat, shrimp, and flavored Fishbites artificial bait strips. Pompano surf-casting rigs have 2 or 3 hooks with 3-to-5-ounce pyramid weight or “sputnick” weight on the bottom. Treasure CoastNov 30th, 2016

This is one of my favorite times of the year to fish. Not only is the fishing on fire, but the wind never seems to lay down and I love that added challenge. I find myself hearing more folks complain about the wind instead of embracing the wind...Christina WeberNov 14th, 2016
