Fly of the Month: March 2016

flyofthemonth

Hex nymphs are an extremely reliable fly for steelhead. The materials used allow for huge amounts of subtle motion. Hen saddle, grizzly marabou, and other types of soft feathers pulsate in a very natural way. This is an important trigger for steelhead. Plus these nymphs are naturally large, making them quite visible, even in dirty water. The prominent eye is another trigger, as well as the contrasting stripes on the tail. This pattern is simple, yet effective.
