caught this 180 lbs bluefin tuna in Pacific Ocean out of San Diego in Mexican Waters.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 11 years and we went on a 5 day out of San Diego last week. We didn't think we would see bluefin but we found a wide open bite for 3 days and decked 57 (plus 6 yellowfin) up to 220 lbs with a 140 lb average. It was our second time fishing for bluefin, and Nick had been skunked on his last trip and I got two 30 pounders so our experience with these 100 lb plus fish was minimal. After we each lost a couple fish, he landed this 180 lb beast on the 2nd morning of fishing- his best catch to date… But that wasn't enough for him. He caught me completely off guard when he got down on one knee on the blood covered deck and popped the question. I said yes making his best catch to date official ;-) and then I went on to lose two more monsters before landing my first triple digit fish weighing in at 113 lbs. I've never felt so many high highs in one day and there aren't words to capture how amazing this trip was. I have more photos but this one is the best quality and least blood. The only thing that could make it better would be a cover shot from a trip of a lifetime!!
