2013 Cobia World Championships

Luckily my good friend Captain Curt Gwin of the Only Way blocked a lot of boat from getting too close as this 100 pound plus Cobia took long runs peeling off my line time and again.

In just a few months, one of Destin’s most prized sport fish will begin its annual migration along the Emerald Coast. That’s right, cobia season is right around the corner! This year, we would like to invite you to be a part of the excitement. Harbor Docks Charities is seeking sponsors for the 2013 Cobia World Championships Fishing Tournament. Our tournaments will be the focal point in raising money for our 19th Annual Take-A-Kid Fishing Day, to be held Sunday, November 3, 2013. Our goal is to treat 500 children to a memorable day of fishing aboard some of Destin’s finest charter boats and have every child receive their very own fishing rod and reel.

The 2013 Cobia World Championships Captains’ Meeting is set for Friday, March 22 with the first day of fishing on Saturday, March 23. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, May 5. During the 2013 Cobia World Championships, we will also be hosting the 2013 Crab Cruncher Classic Cobia Tournament, with the Captains’ Meeting held on Thursday, April 11 and concluding on Sunday, April 14. Last year, over 70 vessels and thousands of anglers competed for over $155,000 in cash and prizes and helped raise $15,000 to go towards the 18th Annual Take-A-Kid Fishing Day! With your help, this year’s tournaments can be even bigger!
