Have you ever heard it said that we have too many fish in the sea? It seems we most certainly can never have enough of them. South Walton Artificial Reef Association offers a simple plan that everyone can join in and have some fun with, even if they don’t fish.

Everyone enjoys hearing stories about the one that got away. What’s a better way to do so than over a great meal with friends? And so it is with the upcoming multi-award-winning event, the 30A Throwdown. Global Fish Aid presents a weekend to remember for both locals and visitors Oct. 17-19 on the stretch of beaches between Destin and Panama City, Fla. Those in the know will tell you this is a dynamic foodie experience.

Many who visit South Walton Beaches will tell you of their love for its laid-back approach to life. And yet it offers the finer aspects of a foodie experience without pretense along its storied beach road, affectionately known as 30A. The Gulf Coast’s culinary culture will be celebrated in this year’s spirited culinary competition on Saturday, Oct. 18 at V-Seagrove Restaurant Seagrove Beach, Fla.

Co-hosting Chef David Cunningham and his staff will offer an inspiring evening for all who attend the 30A Throwdown. South Walton’s top chefs will use the finest and freshest ingredients in this multi-course meal along with carefully paired wines for each serving. Attending foodie revelers will be asked vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” Susan Benton, of 30A Eats, will once again be an “A-List” judge. She and other industry leaders will offer high marks to award this year’s “Critic Choice.”

30A Throwdown competing chefs for this year’s main event will be Seagar’s Dan Vargo, V-Seagrove’s David Cunningham, Pandora’s Chris Mack and Stinky’s Fish Camp Brannon Janca, to name a few who are avid anglers that enjoy bringing their catch to the table.

30A Throwdown will expand its success over this third weekend in October by not only showcasing exquisite cuisine, but also offering specialized yoga training on white sand beaches touched only by emerald green water.

Fresh fish caught off South Walton’s artificial reef system will be used to inspire culinary masterpieces, but more importantly how they will provide a sustainable future for tomorrow’s outdoor enthusiasts.

In addition to having a lot of fun, the event hopes to generate awareness of coastal culinary culture, showcase local top chefs and support the initiatives of the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. Tickets are limited and will be apportioned in supporting this worthy cause Global Fish Aid has tirelessly supported.

Make plans to get to the beach one last time and enjoy some of the best food you will ever experience.
