caught this 24” – 7lbs 3oz Southern Flounder in Matanzas Inlet, Florida.
It was 7:30-8am, early May, and I was on the hunt for a big Flounder coming in from the Winter spawn. I was fishing 20’ of water on the inside of Matanzas Inlet using a 5” fingerling mullet on a Carolina Rig. The conditions couldn’t have been better; heavy clouds, light fog hanging around, the perfect low light conditions. 2 hours into the incoming tide I anchor over a sand shelf to fish the deep drop when I feel something lick my mullet, after a 32 second pause I tighten up and drive the hook home! She rose up the water column and right into the net!
