Water temperature is reaching the season high of 86°F. We continue to enjoy calm seas with light and variable winds, except when the thunderstorms pass through. The reef appears healthy and visibility remains excellent with no signs of algae bloom. Tropical fish and marine life are plentiful, colors are vibrant. Turtles, sharks, barracuda, grouper, snapper and sharks have been frequent and common sightings, and swim-throughs are exploding with immense populations of silversides.
Many guests who initially planned to snorkel changed their minds and decided to dive after learning they could take a short resort lesson in the swimming pool prior to the dive trip. This introduction to SCUBA is an economical way to experience diving before committing the time and money to a full certification.
August 2014 is also an exciting month to sky watch, including the Full Tropical ‘Fruit’ Moon at 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, August 10 and the Persid meteor shower before dawn Sunday through Wednesday, August 10-13.
Diving and snorkeling by day and sky watching at night, a perfect combination to enjoy while in Abaco!
