CHRISITIAN TRAIL CLASSIC | April 7, 2016
Venue: LAKE OKEECHOBEE
The season ending Christian Team Trail Classic was held on Saturday, April 7, and launched from Okee-Tantie Marina. 75 fishermen and 39 boats participated in the event.
First place honors went to the father- daughter team of Doug and Tasha Vest with a five-fish limit that weighed 18.12 pounds. In that string was a 6.21 -pounder that won Big Fish for the tournament. Bobby Duvall and Jeff Edgerly finished in second place with 16.27 pounds followed by Rich Stiglitz and Rob Alfano in third place with 15.73 pounds.
Upon arriving at the weigh-in, the participants were greeted by a crowd of spectators, family and friends. Everyone was treated to cold drinks and pulled pork sandwiches provided by Oakview Baptist Church and professionally prepared by City Councilman Noel Chandler. Door prizes for the participants were provided by local businesses. The Trail thanks our regular providers of door prizes for our events:
Eliâs Western Wear, Pogeyâs Restaurant, World Famous Sam Griffin Lures, Fast Break Tackle, Garrardâs Tackle Shop, and Okeechobee Fishing Headquarters.
The Christian Team Trail, known in local circles as âThe Christianâ is not a fundraiser or for profit, but an evangelism ministry of Oakview Baptist Church, using the biblical example of fishing to bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, âFollow Me and I will make you fishers of men.â
The 2016-17 Trail will begin 1 October, 2016 and launch from the ramp at the Lock Seven Area. At that time, it is expected that the ramp at Okee-Tantie Marina will not be available and the Scott Driver ramp will be hosting the Adam Bryant Memorial Minimal Regatta.
Good fishing, in the Name of the One who makes all things possible.
