Fishing in March should be really good as the blackfin tuna have already started to show up in good numbers with some bigger fish mixed in. Blackfin tuna can be caught at any time of the day, but tend to bite best in low light conditions. If you are trolling, be sure to have a few small bullet type lures or feathers in your spread. For the bigger fish, nothing beats drifting a live pilchard. Use a 20 to 30 pound spinning outfit with at least six feet of 30 to 40 pound fluorocarbon attached to the main line with a small swivel. Use a loop knot to tie a 3/0 to 5/0 live bait hook to the business end. Send your offering way out from the boat to give yourself the best shot of hooking up with a butterball.
Keep reelin,
