My Fishing Adventures
By Christopher Sprague Jr. Angler-Team Tuppens, Contributing Writer
Hello Anglers,
Recently, I was fortunate enough to get out on the boat and go deep dropping! With the corona virus breakout, it is hard to even get out of the house for me. On the weekdays, I have online school, and with the restrictions to go out, I have not been able to do much. It was my first time being outside of the neighborhood in a week, so I was very happy to go out. Once we got out of the inlet, we set out our trolling lures in hopes of finding a hoo. We trolled around for about an hour with no luck, so we decided to go look for dolphin. We headed about 6-7 miles offshore where we found a big blackfin tuna school. We set out some lures and waited around 5 minutes and then we heard both reels scream! We thought that the fish were going to be big from their run, but once we started reeling, we could tell that they didn’t have much weight. We got both to the boat. My tuna was really small, so we released it, but the tuna my dad got was a decent size. We got one more then decided to go look for dolphin. We turned the Garmin radar on and found some birds, but sadly got nothing. We then headed to our golden tile spot off Boca. We dropped our rigs down and waited. We felt a few bites and turned the electric reel on. Once it got to the surface, we saw that it was 2 rosies, one of them was big so we kept it, but the other was small so we released it and it swam back down. We dropped again and got the same thing. Our third drop was where we got the big one. I felt a huge bite and reeled it in. Once it got to the surface, we saw that it was a big golden tile! It was around 25 pounds. We got 1 more rosie the next drop and then called it a day. It was a super fun day and a pleasure to get out of the house and go fishing on a beautiful day!
