Carribean, Costa Rica Fishing Report January 2016
We begin our Caribbean Coast, Costa Rica fishing report with species most recently caught in the Central Caribbean waters of Costa Rica. From salt water offshore anglers, we are receiving many reports of tunas, wahoo, amberjack, snapper and dorado. Due to climatic variations this season, the Central Caribbean fishing season is about to kick off. It looks like it could be one of the best in a few years.
The salt water inshore season is now coming to an end, but there have still be many reports of a small species of snook, snook, barracuda, cuberas, jacks and many large tarpon. The tarpon bite has been specifically hot at the mouths of rivers Colorado, Jaloba, Parismina, Matina, Westfalia, Pensurth and Sixaola.
As for fresh water anglers, many bobo, machaca and rainbow bass (guapotes) are being caught in the rivers of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, Reventazon, Westfalia and Hone Creek.
The best inshore/fresh water fishing spots over the next few months are: (In order of importance)
Sixaola
