[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his is my favorite time of the year. Early morning fishing and home in time for college football! This month should really produce some great fishing. The water has been dirty so I have gone back to the 10W-40 Saltwater Assassin sea shad with a chartreuse tail fooling fish that are keying in on shrimp. Work your bait slow flutter bouncing it off the bottom and then just letting it fall. Change your jig head weight depending on what depth of water you are fishing.
Reds have been plentiful and are being found cruising the grass lines all over the bay. They have been falling for the same 10W-40 sea shad and I have been using a gold or black Aqua Dream Living spoons. For trout I have been using MirrOlure mirrodines and the
52MR. Early a.m. explosions are coming from Heddons spook Jr. and MirrOlure she pup. If it is calm I am throwing the spook jr. and walking it slow. When it is choppier I go to the she pup and speed up my retrieval making all the commotion on the surface I can. Flounder…Good luck! I can’t seem to find them this year. Hopefully they will be moving in and will be around for the upcoming tournaments. The ones I am finding are being caught on a curly tail jig fished slowly at creek mouths and along drop offs.

Remember while fishing from a kayak to always think safety. We are low to the water and not always easily seen. Keep a 360 degree light on at dark and low light conditions, wear a PFD, keep hydrated, and let someone know your float plan.
