[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s we move further into spring, the weather conditions will become more favorable and the fishing should become more consistent. Strong winds and muddy water has made fishing difficult but we are still having some excellent catches.
The Miss. River is at 12ft and rising. With the high river the trout are going to be pushed further out. You might have to try Buras and even as far as Empire to find a consistent trout bite. Blind Bay, South Pass and Breton Island will still produce trout. Live shrimp under a cork will give you the best option to load the boat. If you can’t get live bait Vudu shrimp has work well.
Redfish should be fairly easy to target. Yaritich, Garden Bay and Blind Bay are areas you want to target. We have been using gulps under a cork. Purple and chartreuse plastics tipped with shrimp have worked as well. Try areas around points and the mouths of bayous. Remember when searching for clean water to always check your prop wash. If you can see green water your in the right spot.
