Bahamas Surf Report – June 2011

Surfers from Rum Cay to Abaco anxiously await the first of June because it means the opening of hurricane and tropical storm season, and potential swell for islands that are exposed to swell from the southeast to northeast increases. Even Nassau surfers await storms that push swell right into the Northeast Providence Channel and onto their reefs.

Historically however, June brings few major storms but just the hope of a few tropical lows is enough.

May delivered some unexpected, sizeable north swells as fronts continued to push off the eastern U.S. seaboard, so June may also hold some surprises. Barring those however, count on swell in the three-foot range from the east with many clean days to be had!
