Soothing breezes and water temperatures sliding back a degree or two signals that fall has arrived. November is a delightful time to visit Abaco. Air temperatures are mild and visibility on the reef remains as pristine as ever for divers and snorkelers to enjoy. Air temperature ranges from 71 degrees to 81 degrees and water temperature averages 78 degrees. Yes, it’s time to dig out your wet suit from the back of the closet!

As November progresses, we turn our attention north in anticipation of the first nor’easter tracking its way south. As long as these cold fronts stay to the north of 27°N, we are spared their blustery winds and choppy seas. Normally, the sea state should be no more than two feet, which translates to excellent diving and visibility with little or no current. Even if one does blow through, it is gone within a day or two and conditions return to normal quickly. During this time, we take advantage of diving the inland blue holes and drift diving at dive sites accessible by land transportation.

Abaco offers a wide variety of dive opportunities from the novice to the most experienced diver along with many photo opportunities: shallow, colorful reefs; miniwalls; caverns with light beams dancing on the sand floor; swim throughs; shark observations and an abundance of juvenile tropical fish, blue tangs, jacks, sergeant majors, yellowtails, and perhaps a barracuda or two.

Why not make Abaco your destination for the American Thanksgiving Holiday!
