Grand Bahama

Capt. Dave Dawson reports a consistent wahoo bite, hinging on the falling barometer. High speed trolling has been effective at 14 knots and the colors have been purple and black. The dolphin bite has been great and some of the largest bulls and cows of the season have been hitting the West End docks. Both the Wood Cay area and the area 6 miles east of Old Bahama Bay have been producing. With the spring weather patterns, Capt. Dawson shares the offshore scene will be fantastic.

Abaco

June Russell from Schooner Bay, South Abaco, said they are still seeing a good run of dolphin and yellowfin. Reports coming in are that the waters are ripe with large dolphin in the 25-to-45 pound range and tuna weighing in at 70-to-90 pounds. Trolling with ballyhoo and your standard lures will get you the best haul. For those with more time, “chunking” always brings a nice catch.

Bimini

Capt. Chase Camacho, fishing out of the Bimini Big Game Club, said the wahoo have been in abundance. March has seen dolphin show in good numbers and will continue in to April. Blue and white marlin are beginning to show, particularly between Cat Cay and south Bimini in 500 to 2500 feet of waters. If looking for dorado and yellowfin, you’ll find them in waters from 250 to about 500 feet. Watch for flying fish to let you know you’re in the right area.
