The Extreme Kayak Fishing’s Battle in the Bahamas, April 24-27, 2014, Grand Bahama

This event promises to deliver an experience of a lifetime. The two-day tournament off of Taino Beach, Port Lucaya will feature three divisions, a Total Weight division, which will target wahoo, mahi mahi, kingfish, black fin tuna, yellow fin tuna and amber jack (5 eligible fish per kayak/paddle board per day for total weight); a Reef Division, targeting mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, cubera snapper, yellow tail snapper, grouper and hog fish; and a Trash Can Slam, targeting barracuda and trigger fish. Grouper are eligible for all three divisions Tournament organizers have arranged a package that includes accommodations at Flamingo Bay Resort and Marina and transport of kayak or paddleboard and gear on Balearia’s new Bahamas Express, from Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale. Celebrity chefs to dish it up at Devour! The Beach, Green Turtle Cay, Abaco.

Some of North America’s hottest chefs will descend on Green Turtle Cay for a three-day ocean-side food extravaganza March 26-29, 2014.  Food and wine lovers will enjoy two themed gala dinners from a classic six-course French cuisine to the best in pan-American cooking, various activities for the culinary and wine enthusiast, from fishing and diving to chef beach cookouts to wine and culinary demonstrations.  There’s even a film screening under the stars. Inter-Island-Hopping Service connects four Abaco cays.

Albury’s Ferry Service recently initiated a new inter-cay ferry service making island hopping within the cays of Abaco easy and fun. The direct inter-cay ferry service includes Man-O’-War Cay, Lubbers Quarters, Elbow Cay and Guana Cay. Fares range from $40 to $30 for adults; $30 to $20 for 12 and under; no charge for those 5 or under.
