Bahamas Surf Report – July 2011

Mattheo Albury hits the surf on day two of surf camp.

July means small surf and lots of heat in Eleuthera. Yes, there’s the occasional tropical storm swell but you can’t count on that. Instead, count the other ways to have fun here! Rent a golf cart and tour Harbour Island. Bring your fly fishing gear and hook a bonefish. Beachcomb the beaches – the windward side holds many treasures. And then, when the surf kicks up, have that fun shape or longboard handy to catch whatever is coming in.

The last couple weeks of June brought a small east swell and the Bahamas Out Island Adventures surf camp caught it! Coastal Angler Magazine-Flahama sponsored 8-year-old Mattheo Albury of Gregory Town, Eleuthera to attend the camp. Mattheo caught on quickly scoring stand up rides within a couple days and enjoying the water temperatures, which stay refreshing even through July before the ‘bathtub’ imitation begins in August.
