With a soft launch last fall, B.A.S.S. High School Fishing clubs has already Mud Hole Custom Tackle has been active generated 122 clubs with almost 1,000 students in 33 states and continues to grow every day.
Recently, the world’s largest rod building e-retailer, Mud Hole Custom Tackle, which provides fishing products to anglers in over 100 countries, has been named the inaugural title sponsor of the new 2014 Bassmaster High School Fishing circuit.
“Bassmaster (B.A.S.S.) is committed to growing the high school bass market and Mud Hole Custom Tackle is dedicated to her, these common interests in the sport will allow high school students to be introduced to fishing and tackle crafting while teaching them about conservation, natural resources and community service.”
McNamara said growth projections for the circuit are expected to 12,000 students representing 2,000 clubs in the contiguous 48 states in three years. By joining a B.A.S.S. High School club, members are eligible to compete in Bassmaster High School tournaments. The first is the Bassmaster High School Open June 19-21 at Douglas Lake in Dandridge, Tenn. Four weeks later, on July 16-19, the Bassmaster High School Championship will be held at Kentucky Lake, Tenn. A one-hour televised episode of the championship will air on ESPNU. A Bassmaster High School Exhibition Tournament is planned as part of the Bassmaster Classic in 2015.
Mudhole Custom Tackle has been active in B.A.S.S. events, sponsoring two young men, Hunter McKamey, on Bassmaster’s College Series, and Elite Series rookie pro Brandon Lester. Both were heavily involved in fishing as teenagers and build their own custom rods.
“You see the passion they bring to the sport,” said McNamara, “and both gentlemen continue to develop public-speaking and problem-solving skills plus foster leadership attributes.”
As part of its title sponsorship, Mud Hole Custom Tackle will also be providing a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, Mud Hole will present a complete rod-building kit at both tournaments for the heaviest fish of the day.
