The wahoo have arrived all over the Bahamas, weather patterns are favorable, and the fish are waiting to entertain you. The Bimini Big Game Club’s third Wahoo Smackdown scheduled for November 21-23 promises fishing fun, first-class food and drink, loaded goody bags, and the chance at winning thousands in cash and prizes.
“They start running soon and we will be on the water to chase them,” said Capt. Paul Cameron, tournament director. “With some $30,000 in cash and prizes this should be another great tournament for Bimini.”
In the Wahoo Smackdown II tournament, held in February, Team Fishin a Loan, comprised of Frank Roach, Kevin Marsh, Billy Thomas and Dillon Kemp, took home $7,500 in cash and prizes landing 334.7 pounds of wahoo and the tournament’s largest single catch—96.7 pounds.
The entry fee is $1,250 (covers four; $100 for each additional angler). First place prize is $5,000, followed by $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third. Largest catch prize is $2,500.
