September is basically April part two. On the down side, that means some days may be windy and rough. On the upside, the fishing can still be great! If the wind is blowing, stay in close and fish the reefs along the coast. Water temp is still gonna be in the 80’s so leaving early or late in the day should produce the best bites. Don’t be afraid to throw out a big live bait(mullet, white trout, large croakers) on these reefs. We have been catching big bull reds and sharks on them all summer long.
If we dodge the tropical systems, the triple tail fishing will be off the charts in September. Watch for anything floating and check under it. Give em a live shrimp, they will eat it.
The Biloxi Marsh will be a safe bet on the calm days. Watch for diving birds, slicks, and or points of moving water. If it is later in the day, go deep with live baits or tight lined soft plastics. For some reel fun, break out the big rods and fish the deeper channels. Sharks, bull reds, jacks and just maybe a tarpon will be holding in 15 feet or more.
Watch your weather, have fun and be safe!
