[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ur summer season is here in earnest with the heat of July. The fishing offshore has been heating
up as well. The rip lines are holding billfish, wahoo and better numbers of mahi. Trolling the grass patches
with lures or ballyhoo is the norm, and is working well.
The floating deepwater oil rigs will continue to produce yellowfin and blackfin tuna. Chunking
pogies, topwater poppers and live baiting are preferred. The average sized tuna have been smaller than
average, with some occasional brutes that show up. Be safe. Stay vigilant while watching the skies
and radar for the summer squalls that pop up most afternoons.
Tight Lines,
