On January 14th, Wayne and crew hosted their Annual Customer Appreciation Day. This was my first time at the event and when I pulled up, I had to park almost a mile away and could smell the food as I came in. Wayne was behind the grill and served me up a plate of wild hog, coleslaw, baked beans, and corn on the cob! A meal fit for a king (or queen) – and Wayne cooked it all.
Wayne puts a lot of time and effort into this event. Preparation starts right after Christmas with the hog hunting. The beginning of January I was in the store talking to Wayne and he told me he had been out hog hunting. He shot, prepped and cooked nine hogs for his customers to enjoy. To accompany the food there was live music, guest speakers, seminars and discounts on everything in the store. I especially enjoyed Dalton’s seminar on throwing a cast net!
Cape Tool and Tackle is a store you can go into and ask for assistance on pretty much anything and get a reliable answer, or just spend some time and talk fishing. How many people do you have in your life that will go out and shoot, butcher, and cook a hog for you?! On your next visit, say thanks to Wayne and let him know how much you enjoyed his Customer Appreciation Day, (and ask Dalton why he shaved his face) because he did it for you. Thanks Wayne!
