Coastal Angler Boston kicked off 2014 in style at the Rockingham Fishing and Hunting Expo, where the magazine was proud to introduce Wicked Tuna’s Captain Ralph Wilkins to anglers and fans. The expo was a weekend of shop talk as anglers from across New England gathered to discuss their best catches and their favorite fishing equipment. Raffles and giveaways gave the weekend extra excitement, while fishing seminars helped future anglers and fishing vets alike learn insider tips.
Of course, Captain Ralph Wilkins of the Odysea was a huge hit among the Rockingham crowd. Captain Ralph is one of the most popular characters on the National Geographic Channel’s hit show Wicked Tuna, and his fans made no secret of their admiration for the captain. Many Captain Ralph—and Coastal Angler!—fans stopped by the booth to pose for pictures with our new columnist and to pick up the latest copy of Coastal Angler Magazine: Boston Edition. Visitors had plenty to talk to Captain Ralph about- from fishing tips and favorite Wicked Tuna moments, to fishing for secrets from the show’s upcoming season.
“These fans have a true passion for fishing and a passion for the show,” said Captain Ralph. “I’m looking forward to meeting and spending time with more folks at future Coastal Angler events.”
Sunday, January 12 was Family Day at the expo, which allowed veteran anglers to bring along the next generation and show them the ropes. Boys and girls from across New England were thrilled to meet Captain Ralph, who got the chance to show his softer side by talking bass size with a young fisherwoman and posing for pictures with his young fans. A few lucky visitors even got to sit in the captain’s chair, getting an early taste of the fishing endeavors to come.
The magazine wishes to thank our readers for supporting Coastal Angler Magazine: Boston Edition at the Rockingham Fishing and Hunting Expo this year! Readers have welcomed Captain Ralph with enthusiasm and we’re thrilled to have him aboard. We look forward to many exciting years at the expo to come.
