Cast Out Cancer and Reel in a Cure

By Coastal Angler Magazine Staff

At the end of last summer, Nickolas Anzalone, a Hampton, N.H. eighth-grader and avid fisherman, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. Nick has gone through intense chemotherapy and surgery to fight his battle against this disease.

Nick has a long road ahead of him, as well as his parents, as his fight is still on. He has another six months of chemotherapy treatments to undergo.

As other boys love baseball and football, Nick loves to fish. His hope for this summer is to be able to get in some of his beloved hobby of fishing. Any chance he can get to be out on the water with his mom or dad he takes it.

In the meantime, the lives of Nickolas’ parents, Christine and John, have come to a halt as they drop everything to be by their son’s side. They also have a daughter, 10, to look after and be with as well as Nickolas.

In order to help out Nickolas and his family, an online fundraiser has been established at www.gofundme.com/4pv8ts. The family hopes to raise $20,000 and is already more than halfway there! Along with the online fundraiser, the family has been hosting public events to help raise money. Their next event is called “Cast Out Cancer & Reel in a Cure,” which will be held on April 12 at Florian Hall in Dorchester, Mass. from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.
