This month has been a slow fishing month because the tournament season is coming to an end and we didn’t have good weather because of all the storms. We did have 1 tournament, the Anglers for the Cure. This is a fun charity tournament. We started off in the morning fishing off Juno/Jupiter. We hooked 2 kingfish right away. Half an hour later we were on again. We didn’t think it would be too big of a fish, but who knows, sometimes you will get a very lazy kingfish that swims right to the boat. It was only around 10 pounds, so we released that one. Soon we had another one.  I was told like I always am, “Hold on to the long line in the back of the boat while we fight a fish in the front of the boat”. That’s when I got a hit. My line started peeling off and I pulled up and I was tight. I reeled it in slowly until the first fish was in the boat. Then I moved up to the front and we focused on my fish.  I was reeling it in as fast as I could because I knew this was a nice fish and I did not want to lose him to the sharks. I got him close, Billy reached out with the gaff and a nice kingfish came over the side. I watched the hooks fall out just as he hit the deck!! This was a 19 pounder. After, there was a dull period for 3 hours with nothing but sharks & bonito.  We moved to a spot off Palm Beach and that’s where we got a couple more nice kingfish – 30 & 26. We were excited because there weren’t a lot of boats with nice kingfish. We hoped to get aggregate, but we were beat by a few pounds.  I missed out on placing by about 5 ounces. Even though we didn’t win, it was very fun and we were lucky to get what we got. Check it out on you tube!

Tight Lines!
