It’s November and we’ve been waiting for this all year (especially during July and August). It’s both deer season and trophy trout season. It’s hard to chose which one to go after, but do know that you can catch a lifetime speck any month of the year.. It’s not just the cooler months.  Let’s take a look at how trophy trout and trophy bucks are similar. Number one on the list is predator evasion.

It’s no accident that both big trout and big bucks get that way by evading predators (both man and other predators). Big bucks do it by only moving at night and finding areas that aren’t encroached by hunters to wait out the day. While still having food available.

Could it be that most big trout are similar.  Most of the big trout are taken by savvy anglers looking in areas that have the right habitat and food AND are not visited by fisherman, dolphins, and sharks. This could mean shallow areas too shallow for those predators or it could be big structure like rocks with gaps big enough for  trout to evade its pursuers.

To bag either the trophy buck or trout the angler must approach the area undetected, keeping current flow, and bait movement direction in mind like the hunter considers wind, and hunt areas that have the right habitat for them to evade predators while still eating and avoiding outboards.
