STUART, FL – The inaugural Fishing With My Pal Fishing Tournament hosted by Murray Insurance Services on Saturday, September 1st was a great success. More than 75 children, along with their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, participated in the tournament.
âWe couldnât be more thrilled with the turnout for this event,â said Shannon Murray, President of Murray Insurance Services. âEveryone had such a great time, and it was especially fun seeing the kids fishing, some of them for the very first time.â
The event provided an opportunity for adults who do not have a license to share the experience of fishing with their children. Held in Flagler Park in Downtown Stuart, the tournament was purposely scheduled for that date because it was one of two dates when the fishing license requirement is waived by the State of Florida for all recreational anglers (residents and non-residents).
âWe were so lucky to have Ed Killer, Fishing Editor for Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers, there for the day. He presented the awards at our awards ceremony, and took the time to shake every kidâs hand and tell them how great they did,â Murray said.
Participants were asked to bring food items for the schoolsâ Backpack Program, which services food insecure children through the school system.
