NAME: Dark Knight Intruder
HOOK: Gamakatsu – Octopus sz. 4, attach to shank with .015 beading wire
ARTICULATED SHANK: Fish Skull – 35mm
THREAD: Uni 6/0
Directions:
1). Starting at hook end of shank; create a large ball of black Krystal Dub (this will help the following materials splay out).
2). Directly against the dubbing ball make three turns of black EP Foxy Brush working the fibers backward toward hook.
3). Tie in black ostrich plumes tight against the EP brush. A few wraps of thread against the plumes will help direct them backward and fan out.
4). Tie in the end of pearl Diamond Braid at the ostrich and wrap shank to within 1/4 inch of shank eye.
5). Create a second large dubbing ball with black Krystal Dub.
6). Tie in and make three turns of the black EP brush working the fibers to the rear of the fly.
7). Finally, cut enough fibers to flow around the shank of Senyo’s Barred Predator Wrap UV and build a tapered thread head and whip finish.
I like to tie this fly intruder style or with a stinger hook. It can also be tied on a 3-4X streamer hook. In the water, the Dark Knight is a leach-looking pattern and is most effective in low-light and stained-water conditions. Best of Luck!
