Fort Bayou Fishing Forecast: Sept 2013

September on the Gulf Coast usually means the water temps are cooling down and the fishing heating up. Every species imaginable will be close to shore and feeding, especially later in the month. The speckled trout will be around Deer Island in September. Look for these tasty trout at the lumps by the Golden Nugget, Katrina Reef and of course the rocks on the west end of the island. There have been enough triple tail in the area to keep anglers busy, I see September being another good month for this exotic and hard fighting brute. A good time for chasing these black fish is when a “neap” tide is occurring. Blackfish can be found all across the Gulf Coast
Back Bay will stay steady with white trout, specks and reds. The bird activity in Back Bay will get better with the cooling temps,
usually school trout with some keepers mixed in feeding on shrimp migrating into the bays and rivers will keep anglers busy with a topwater feeding frenzy. September is a great month to fish along the coast and Fort Bayou Charters has some dates open so give Capt. Mike a call to book a fishing trip and make some great memories with friends and family.

Be courteous and careful when enjoying the waters along our beautiful Gulf Coast.
