Ft. Lauderdale Freshwater Report: Feb 2014

Capt. Brett Isackson

February is upon us. Last month we’ve gotten a few nice cold fronts in, and the water levels have been dropping in the Everglades. This is the time of the year I like to look for the bass fishing to get red hot! My suggestion? Try fishing Holiday Park, Sawgrass or along Alligator Alley – They’re lots of little fish being caught along the Alley and at Sawgrass. It’s good fun fishing and if you want to bring the kids out to have a good time, try using gamblers fat aces on a wacky worm rig, or try throwing zoom super flukes and shacked head rigs on the bottom. Look for the bass to really start spawning on the beds as we get closer to the moon phase. The peacock bass fishing has been really good at the c 100th canal system. Try using fast moving repairs in bright colors, or try using torpedos on top water.
