Gloucester Charter Connection: Connecting You to the Sea

By Nicole Fonzino

On Saturday, March 15, the Gloucester Charter Connection held a “Friends, Family and Community” open house, which was held to welcome visitors to the newest edition of beautiful Gloucester. The open house had a large turnout and ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There to support the new Gloucester Charter Connection was Senator Tarr, who currently resides in the town. He was able to speak before the crowd and was also chosen to cut the ribbon that kick-started the day’s celebrations. The doors finally opened showcasing the Charter Connection’s in-house items such as Gray Taxidermy fish, “Wicked Tuna” captain merchandise, and local art.

The idea for the Gloucester Charter Connection came about when Massachusetts fishing regulations limited the amount of fishing people could partake in. When the demand for Bluefin tuna stayed the same, but was harder to fish for, these men banded together to help one another as well as other fishermen out. Made up of passionate fishermen, these men have been fishing for the majority of their lives and want to share their love for fishing with the rest of the community. They are hoping that their company will help chartering in Gloucester and will overall have a positive effect.

“We love to catch fish—big fish—and lots of them. Be assured your trips safety and success is our foremost focus. Your success is our success,” they say on their website.

A tuna trip will last you from morning to night, but will give you the best chance to catch a Bluefin. You need to provide your own apparel and food, but the equipment for this trip is already included. If Bluefin fishing is not for you, they also provide shark trips, striped bass and bluefish trips and cod, haddock and pollock trips.

The Gloucester community has thrived off of fishing for a long time, and now the Gloucester Charter Connection will be able to allow visitors and residents to experience all that the town has to offer them.
